About Axis CxO Solutions
I formed Axis CxO Solutions in 2023 after my last company, a small defense company, was acquired to address the need of many businesses looking for an experienced interim or fractional (part time) executive leader. There are various reasons companies look for such an executive. One reason is to fill some gaps that may have been created by another leader who recently departed, and one needs the appropriate time and help to search for a new leader. Other needs range from a that company is entering a new stage of its growth and needs additional help to scale or even turnaround its business or division, or position the company for future acquisition.
Who I am…
Derek Newsom
Now that I have talked about the need, let’s talk about the “WHO” and why my background and experience is unique. First, I was raised by a father who was an amazing businessman, entrepreneur and mentor having formed successful companies from Oil and Gas exploration to a satellite communications technology company; I had the opportunity of working in those businesses over much of my childhood where I was even managing a team of people by the age of 16. After I completed my Masters of Engineering and MBA, I spent the first half of my 25+ year career within Fortune 100 / 500 large corporations (e.g., HP, GE) where I was heavily involved in global business expansion, operations, product & program management, P&l leadership, R&D, and strategic planning and executive leadership.
The second half of my career has been heavily focused on small business management and leadership. I have had the privilege serving as CEO, COO, CMO, CIO, Board Director, and other positions in both large and small companies. Overall, I had made it a goal in my life to become a Corporate Triathlete in understanding all aspects of business and gain experience in different industries. In short, I humbly believe that I have been able to show career success in multiple leadership roles and across different industry sectors as evidenced by my resume or LinkedIn profile that I’d be happy to share with you related to a potential engagement of my services.
